THREE TOWNS IN DARKNESS.

BY COLLISION AT GREYTOWN. MOTOR v. POWER POLE. A collision between a car and an electric wire pole on the Grey town road last night was responsible for cutting Greytown, Featherston and Martinborough cut of the service for two hours. It is understood that a motorist named Ingley collided with the pole, bending it over and snapping off the cross-arms. Fortunately for the motorist the wires did not come down, but the contact, effected such a severe short circuit that the main switch at the power house at Kourarau was thrown out. The repair gang was immediately called out, and the service was reinstated at 8 o’clock, two hours after the accident. It is believed that more will be heard of the incident in the course of a few days.
