Mrs G. Hume (Featherston) is visiting Wellington. Mrs D. K. Logan (Lansdowne) is a visitor to Wellington. Miss V. Hutchison (Brancepeth) is at present a visitor to Wellington. Miss Barbara McLeod (Martinboxough) has returned from Wellington. Miss R. Meredith (Essex street) has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs F. W. H. Kummer (Mauriceville) and Mrs Robert Cameron have returned from Wellington. Mrs A. Stewart and Miss Alexa Stewart (Essex street) have been spending a few days in Wellington. Mrs W. E. Allen (Carterton) and Miss Doreen Allen returned home yesterday from a visit to Auckland. Mrs T. W. Wardell (Te Whiti) returned to Masterton yesterday from a visit to Auckland, where she was the I guest of Mrs J. B. Henry. The marriage took place at the Auckland registry office on April 14 of Miss Nancy Pharazyn, eldest daughter of Mr C. B. Pharazyn (Nelson, formerly of Featherston) to Mr Phillip Bennett (Murchison.)

At the monthly meeting of the Greytown Plunket Society the nurse’s report for April showed: New cases 4; visits to office, adults 25; babies 24; visits to homes 24; advice by telephone 3; emulsion sold Gibs. Permission was granted to Mrs Denham, District High School, Featherston, to use the Plunket room one day per week.

The members of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Navy League rendered excellent service in attending to the many wants of the sailors who visited Masterton on Monday. One hundred members spent Saturday and Sunday in preparing the spacious hall, and on Monday morning the fin I siting toucnes were added. The whole of Monday was occupied with waiting on the sailors and preparing for their send-off, and to the services of rnese ladies can the success of the luncheon be largely attributed. The stage decorations, done by Mrs P. Gordon, are worthy of special mention.

A quiet but pretty wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church, Fitzroy, on Tuesday, April 15, when Mr Wallis Raymond Beard, youngest son of Mr and Mrs C. J. Beard (trreytown), was married to Dora Evelyn, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Shaw, New Plymouth, and formerly of Staffordshire, England. The bride wore satin marocain draped with radium lace. Miss Hilda Mackinder was bridesmaid and Mr H. Guthrie (Wanganui) acted as best man. The guests were afterwards entertained at the Kawaroa bungalow, and later the happy couple left on a motoring trip to Auckland.
