COMPETITIONS SOCIETY.
ANNUAL FESTIVAL. The Masterton Competitions Society’s eighth annual festival commences on Monday, and promises to be on© of the most successful yet held. The ■entries, which constitute a record,, since the inception of the society, number 450, and include well-known artists from both North and South Islands. One of the features will be Jhe dancing section with 100 entries. Maori poi dances and canoe dances should attract the public. Th© piano sections have produced a large entry, and no doubt the judge will be set a. difficult task. Members' subscriptions are now payable to entitle them to the privileges. The official accompanist will be in town on Thursday to meet competitors. The box plan is now open at tho Arts and crafts.
