Parr visited . aitonio Caves on Tuesday, and was wonder- • .ily impressed with the possibilities of that resort as a sanatorium especially for worried business men and those suffering from nervous troubles. Exhibits at the Builders’ Conference were two bricks, one taken from a building in Valcan Lane erected in If 63 and demolished recently, and the other a brick of 1924 (says the “Auckland Star.”) They formed the subject of remark on the lack of thoroughness in the present day manufacture, the product of sixty years ago being an infinitely better article. Commenting on the two bricks, a builder remarked that the old one had probably been in soak for six weeks and well puddled before it had been fired, while the other was clay yesterday and a brick to-day.
