ATHLETIC CLUB’S SOCIAL. Over 150 people at the Y.M.C.A. on Saturday evening marked the conclusion of the winter activities. Members of the Wellington Y.M.C.A. soccer team were among the guests. The gymnasium presented a very pleasing Egyptian effect, with many pieces of Egyptian tapestry adorning the walls. A splendid programme of musical items and games was carried out, and supper was served in the Social Hall, members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary capably supervising the two sittings required to accommodate all present. Mr Hcssell’s orchestra, under the conductorship of Mr Norman, supplied a number of selections, Messrs Hessell and Norman contributed an instrumental duct, and Mr E. H. Quill a solo. At the conclusion of tfic programme Mr W. M. Sexton (vice-president of the Y.M.C.A.) presented the prizes won during the evening to Master Temple Young and Miss Biggs. The general secretary (Mr P. M. Velvin) thanked one and all for entering into the games so heartily, and moved a vote of thanks to the orchestra and the Ladies’ Auxiliary, which was carried By acclamation.
