THE BULL RING.
WEEK’S CADET TRAINING. The week’s training of the Wairarapa High School cadets was brought to a close yesterday, when a demonstration was given which proved emphatically the value of such intensive courses as against the weekly halfhour’s or hour’s drill. Working in three platoons, under Lieut. W. G. Gentry, Lieut. Bird and Sergts.-Major McMillan and Stewart, the cadets, numbering 130 were put through the whole circuit of the “bull ring,” physical jerks, musketry and company drill. Nearly half the boys had done no training at all before this week. The precision and smartness with which they -went through their evoutions, the snap and vim of their movements, and the obvious improvement in their general appearance very much impressed the spectators, who were also much amused with the “bunnies’ relay race” and the various evolutions designed to make the boys think and move quickly. As a contribution to the d -scipliiie of the school the week in barracks has been invaluable.
