ST. BRIDE’S CONVENT BAZAAR

TUG-OF-WAR CONTEST. The pulls last- night decided which teams would reach the finals in the competition. When Stokers took their places to meet Freezers No. 1 a tense silence prevailed, the position being that if Stokers were defeated Freezers No. 1 would meet the winners of P. and T. and Freezers No. 2 in the final. Stokers never left the issue in doubt, and when the whistle blew had the advantage by four inches. Loud cheers greeted the victors, and the spectators were satisfied that the better team had won.

Freezers No. 2 and Post and Telegraph proved a vigorous pull. No. 2 getting the advantage when the clutch was released, held it and won with a slight increase on time.

The semi-final will take place tonight, when Freezers No. 1 and Freezers No. 2 will meet at 0.15. Stokers having drawn the bye, will pull the winners in the final on Saturday night.

The various stall-holders were kept Lusy, and all worked hard in disposing of the many useful and beautiful articles in aid ot their respective queens.

The following were the winners of ■the raffles drawn? —5984 (Miss Cashion), 16,189 (Duncan McLaren) 13,226 (Miss Robinson), 15.894 (Mr McEwen), 20,561 (Beriev), 8803 CT. Henry), 8726 (S. O’Regan), 8683 (Mrs N. Flannery, Wellington). The bazaar will open to-day from 2 o’clock to 5 in the afternoon. Fresh cream will be procurable at the Produce Stall, but buyers must provide their own jars. Art union tickets " ill admit to bazaar afternoon or evening.
