FIRE BRIGADE.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton. Fire Brigade was held in Tuesday evening, Superintendent Freeman presiding. Mr E. J. Barton was elected an honorary member. It was decided to support DeputySuperintendent B. Braggin- 'V.-.-'. •- ton), I<fireman C. Bragging (Damievirke), and Superintendent Berry (Hanrelock), as vice-presidents for the United Fire Brigade Association at the conference to be held art Dannevirke ait Easter. Superintendent Freeman at present holds the position as president, while Deputy Braggins is a vice-president. The following team was selected to go to the demonstration: —Lieutenant H. Braggins, Firemen C. Cole, S. Dixon, J. Clarke, A. Torrance and G. Barr, while Fireman F. Cole was elected delegate lo the conference. A grant was made to defray expenses o. the team. A vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Jenkins Bros, and Mr H. Braggins for work done on behalf of the Brigade. Th© balance sheet was presented in connection with the Darktown gala, showing a credit balance of £33 i which wits considered very satisfactory. It was decided to accord all those who assisted the brigade a vote of thanks. Superintendent Freeman reported that as a result of.'the local competition both the shield and rose bowl were won by Lieutenant H. Braggins, this being the fourth time in succession. Ihe question was brougjht forward of parking cars in Jackson street. It wais pointed out that the argument for a new street was that it would be a means of getting quickly to the western side of the town, and now it is io be hiajf blocked up with taxi cars. It was finally left with the
Superintendent to consult the local members of the Fire Board.
