THE Wairarapa Age MORNING DAILY. TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 1922. THE HIGH SCHOOL.

The meeting of parents last night to discuss the progress of the High. School project was in every respect a satisfactory one. The attendance was large- enough, and representative elough to dispose of the suggestion that has been thrown out on more than one occasion that the parents arc not interested in the matter. In other districts parents have not been asked to undergo a test of patience such as the parents of Wairarapa have experienced. Hope deferred has made their hearts sick, but it is evidently not cor-

lested. As for the meeting itself, there v.as rather much recrimination and j past history. What is wanted now is constructive suggestions, and the meeting has put the machinery in motion to arrange a very effective deputation tn meet Mr Parr. The committee must frame clearly and definitely the points which are to be put to the Minister, and must give its speakers distinct instructions that they are to keep to tlu practical points and avoid any thing in the way of controversy or personal recrimination. Even if Ministers, or members of boards, or individauls, have done wrong in the past the interview with the Minister Will be no occasion for washing dirty linen. There is, believe, unanimity amongst the parents on the desir- . ability of going ahead with the school ■ without any further delay, and they arc entitled to have their views expressed with a unanimous voice. If ; the parents of the- Wairarapa have L suffered in the past through disunion ; they have no right to inflict the punr ibhment upon their children by withholding any longer the education they . are entitled to.
