RED STAR CLUB. The committee of the Red Star Football Club, in their annual report, state that, than’ks to the co-operation of members and the ladies’ committee, the Club is in a more prosperous state than for a good many years, the treasurer reporting a credit balance of £l3. Members subscriptions came forward much better than in previous years, although a few are still owing. The thanks of the Club are due to the President (Mr B. Iveson) who, besides giving a donation, kindly provided a smoke concert to the juniors for winning the Wairarapa Northern Division; also to Messrs O. J. Percy, R. J. Paul, AV. J. Conder, B. Braggins, A. McEwan, R. J. Pearson, E. Freeman and F. Lewis. “Mr Gardiner, the first secretary and treasurer of the Star Club, expressed his appreciation of the aairs of the Club and asked us to convey his best wishes to members for the coming season,” continues the report. “We have also to thank Mr J. O’Leary, Club coach, for his excellent services and Mr A. O’Donnell (trainer) and Mr E. Freeman for kindly placing a room at our disposal and other help. Our senior team, although finishing last in the championship, played some very creditable games and should have finished in a higher position. The junior team was more successful, winning the

Northern Division and being runnersup in the final for the championship, being beaten by Dalefield. It behoves all members to give all the assistance they can this year in procuring new members and to place a third, and a fourth grade team in the field. At the annual smoke concert our coach, Mr J. O’Leary was presented with a set of pipes. Mr H. Carson won the gold medal for best back, Mr Sid. Dixon the medal for best forward, and Mr C. Davis for best all-round junior player. We have to thank our delegates to the Wairarapa Rugby Union, especially Mr R. J. Southgate (Patron) who was elected chairman of the Management Committee for the eighth ycar in succession. We have been promised three gold medals, by Messrs E. Houlihan, L. A. Wadham and F. Slater. The Club had a good precentage of players representing them in the Wairarapa senior and junior representatives, and all proved themselves worthy of selection.”
