THE BIG SPORTS.
ANNIVERSARY DAY. The magnificent entries which have been received by the Wairarapa A.A.C. for the annual sports on Mondayj»are sufficient to guarantee a good day’s entertainment. When the remarkable quality of some of these competitors is considered, one realises the popularity of the local club which can 'attract such prominent athletes. The top-dressing which was done to the sprint track will assist the crack hurdler Wilson to obtain the coveted record, which he so narrowly missed last season. This attempt will be made at 2.10 p.m. Never in the history of Masterton h'as so many good distance runners been engaged in a mile race before, and with Moore, Rose, Rowe, and Campbell on scratch, and a big field of good men in front, a great race is assured. This event is timed to start at 1.20 p.m. The bicycle races, which are always attractive, should produce some fast times, as the riders, who are second to none in New Zealand, are now at the top of their form. The final of the one mile bicycle handicap should be worth going a long way to see. <
The public are assured of clock-like precision in getting the various events off, and the purchase of an official programme will enable visitors to more conveniently follow the progress of the events.
