Mr. G. R. Sykes .addressed a meeting at Eketahuna on Friday night. . Ho . dealt with tjjie political situation on the lines of his previous speeches, and resumed his seat amidst applause. ' On- 4he motion' of Mr. J. S., Tripe, a hWrty'vot| bf ' thanks was accorded the candidate for his statesmanlike address. The mover of the resolution stated that confidence could best be expressed at the ballot-box. In introducing Mr. Sykes at Eketahuna on Friday night, the Mayor (Mr. T. Parsons) mentioned that, . although Mr. Sykes had the reputation of. being a prominent member, he (the Mayor) having been in the House a good deal recently in connection with . the butter question, was in a position to know that this member did a vast amount of solid work without being in the limelight, and did not make himself a nuisance, as did some other members, by butting in and playing to the gallery with long speeches in Hansard. ' Mr. A. 0. Holmes addressed the electors at Kakariki. on Saturday tfight. He will be at Eketahuna tonight, and at Pliekvillo to-morrow, night.
