RETURNED SOLDIERS

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Last Night. Twenty-eight cot cases are included in the contingent that arrived today. They were reduced from 225 at the commencement of the voyage. Two hundred sustained severe leg and arm wounds, about twenty having lost the use of one limb. Ten lost the use of one eye. Pulmonary cases, totalling 40, predominate amongst the sick cases. Two deaths occurred on the voyage. Lieut. H. Simson of the Royal Flying Corps, died on January 11th. His father resides in Hawke's Bay. "Private 111. Martin, of Temtika, died this morning.' Both were buried at jsea The men were welcomed by Sir Joseph Ward and Mayor Gunson. WAIRARAPA MEN. A big contingent of returned soldiers arrived in Auckland yesterday morning, the following Wairarapa men being amongst the number:— Carter, G., Eketahuna. Goldsmith, P., Masterton. Hayes, H. T., Masterton. Johnston I). G., Carterton. Larson, B. S., Masterton. Mason, H. S., Masterton. Reed, C M., Masterton. Turner, A. V., Pahiatua.
