BRITISH FOOD SUPPLY.
An Order-in-Council has been issued in England, empowering the cßoard of Agriculture to occupy unoccupied land without consent, and other land by consent, for- the purpose of cultivation. The idea is, of course, to make the United Kingdom as far as possible self-sustained. It seems almost a crime that thousands of acres of fertile country should be utilised as deer-parks while the people depend for bread, potatoes, and other necessaries of life, upon importations. If the war does nothing else, it will restore England and Scotlanvi to their proper position of agricultural and pastoral countries.
