CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL.
| The seventh annual meeting of :iie teachers and officers of the Congregational Sunday School was held last evening, when the various reports on the year's work were presented, prior to presentation at 'he annual public meeting on Monday, : Ist November. j The secretary's report showed the ' school to havo made good progress in all departments. Membership at the close of the year was 87, as against 81 for the corresponding period last year; the number of teachers and officers of the school number 12, *nil the classes, including Bible classes, 1.1. Financially, tho school is in a fortunate position, having a credit . balance to commence tho new year | of £5 3s 2d, after having liberally supported missions, and donating the sum of £5 Is to -the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. The formation of a Band of Hope, with an enthusiastic ; band of workers, is included in Ihis ; year's progress. The school now has : a. library of 519 good assorted boolcs, : 92 having '!>oon purchased during tho year, the funds for the purchase har- < hig been -provided by a series of con- ' certs held during tiTo winter months. The annual picnic was held on Mr ; Macara's property at Akura and 1 proved an enjoyable outing on tho 1914 anniversary as in previous years i was an undoubted,success. "Wo aro ■ pfroud. to record that four of our officers and three of our Bible Class members have left for active service : with the. expeditionary force during the year, which goes to make up a total of eleven to date who have enlisted from the Church and Sunday School. Although our staff has been j fiorioflisly depleted, wo are glad to ! report that tho positions rendered | "vacant hare been effectively ! ; and we look forward to another ;vei cessiol year's work in the cause of ' the Master.
