News from the East points to the fact that the Germans are about to meet with a new enemy, and already the men are becoming terror-stricken. ißepcrts show that the Cermans have suffered a severe reverse near Riga. German reinforcements are reported tc be arriving on the Western front, including cavalry from the East. The Allies have landed 70,000 troops at Salonika, whi| e the Russians are sending a powerful expedition to Serbia's assistance. Sanguinary fighting has taken place between the French and Bulgarians but the result is not yet known. The speech of the Right Hon. H. H. Asquith is awaited with interest.
