AMERICAN PASSENGERS ON BOARD. •:. (Received July 2nd, 9730 a.m.) , LONDON, July Ist, A submarine torpedoed and sank the Leyland liner Armenian off the Stilly Islands on Monday night. It is believed that several of the crew were killed. A number of Americans were aboard. _ The incident has caused a sensation in America. Mr Page (American Ambassador in London) and .Mr Gerald (Ambassador at Berlin) have been instructed to report on the matter.
