LIQUOR IN CAMP.
HEAVY FINES IMPOSED
(By Telegraph—-Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the Magistrate's Court to-lay, George Edward Hansen was charged with "taking liquor into the Trentham Carap, and also with supplying whisky to a member of the sth Reinforcements. The defendant represented himself as a Staf| Sergt.-Major from Dargaville. Inspector Hendry said tho Camp Commandant desired him to point out the serious nature of the offence. Liquor was probably the cause of all the trouble in camp. Further, it had a detrimental effect on discipline. If liquor was taken into camp by strangers, the regulation concerning'visitors would have to Le more strictly adhered to. The Magistrate said ,if Hansen was a Sergt.Major, he should have known the regulations. On the first information he would be fined £5, or one month, and on the 'second £lO or two months, the terms to be cumulative.
