It is jti.vt a pity how these good "Lib. erals" are repudiating their connection with the Red Fed. organisation. They were glad to take them to their bosom on December 10th, and to declare them to be junior partners in the. firm of "Progressives." But now they assert that the combination bebveen the two is impjs.J ble, excepting for the purpose of ousting Massey and Co. The whole thing lis, of course, a fraud upon the community. There is no more genuine sympathy between the so-edbd "Liberals" and the, Rod Feds. v than there is betwwn. the autocrat and the democrat. The unholy ,all : u,nce,' or .compact,r'that was entered into with "the object of defeating the: Reform Government, has ignomiuiously failed. And the. Social Demociats are now wondering why they allowed them Halves to be made the tool of a party which has been hopelessly discredited in the country, and which is as dead ar.i Julius Caesar. The true "Liberals" need have no fear for the future, for the events of the last few weeks will produce a cohesion that will secure the country against extremists for many years' to come.
