SACKING OF LOUVAIN.
AN UNDERGRADUATE'S STORY
(Received Last Night, 7.45 o clock.) LONDON, August 31.
An Oxford undergraduate, who was present at the sacking of Louvain, states that when he entered the town on Friday morning the greater part of it was ablaze. Houses were tumbling on to the streets, and the Germans were looking on at the ruins. Dead bodies also littered the streets. At that time the Hotel de A ille was intact, the officers stating that they intended to reserve it. At Contenherg the undergraduate witnessed the systematic burning of houses in revenge for the inhabitants firing on the Uhlans. Ho saw five civilians shot while escaping from burning buildings.
