"Times & Sydney Sun Services (Received Sept. 1, 8 a.m.) LONDON", August 31. Many German prisoners taken in the naval fight bore revolver wounds. They declare their officers shot them
to prevent them surrendering to tlio Britisli boats which had gone to rescue the drowning. In the evening a German cruiser fired on one boat. Tlio destroyers had to leave their boats behind, but they were rescued by other British warships.
