LONDON, Fob';-25V.-The Daily Mail says that Dr Mawson's storj is touched with tlio majesty of love in death. It reveals the sacrifices that men in our race are prepared to make in pursuit of scientific -knowledge, and their readiness to face death in an unselfish cause. The impression by Scott's story is confirmed by Dr Mawson's moving narrative. Nothing in ,the whole story of the Antarctic exploration can be compared with his solitary journey over an .unutterably aavage waste. Sir Ernest Shackletori, in an .interview, says that Dr Mawson is a born leader of a polar expedition. He possesses every quality of a grealj leader. The manner in which his ship negotiated" the. pack'* was due to Captain, liasis' splendid seamanship. He was capable of caution when caution was needed, ancl of going boldly ; ahead if occasion demanded.
