G. jßeid, :S:M., Antony Scluerny was charged that he did, between January j29th and February 18, keep liquor " ifor sale on the. No-license ai'ea of MasSterton. „ .. Mi* Moran appeared for defendant, and Sergeant Miller prosecuted. Sergt. Miller stated that defendant ;tvas suspected of boing a '"sly g r ®°" ger," and had been seen oy Constable jpenson carrving bottles to tho rear -jbf the Club Hotel billiard saloon on two occasions, and bv C'onstablo Ferteuson on one occasion. _ Evidence in support of these contentions was given by Constables Ponson and Ferguson. Defendant stated that he had been collecting bottles for sale, and on last Monday week had brought five bottles containing beer from Carterton. Tho contents of threo ho consumed himself, and was carrying the remamins two home when lie was met by Sergeant Miller and Constable Fer- ** 'After hearing evidence of defendant and P. G.
