PROPOSED EXPENDITURE. (Received East Niglit, 10.20 o'clock,) WASHINGTON, February 25. The Committee of Naval Affairs has approved of the addition of two battleships to the progra-hmqi but decided to reduce ille number if proposed destroyers from eight to six. One 1200-ton submarine will :t>e included in the estimates, which total £28,T300,000. The building of a number of submarines for the Pacific Coast protection was authorised.
