DOMINION NAVIES.
Admiral Henderson has, according to a special cable appearing in this morning's issue, accused the Admiralty of want of a settled policy respecting tlie dominion navies and the Pacific. He assorts tlmt, if the policy adopted by Australia in 1911 had been given sy upathy and support, all the dominions would soon have come into line. NYe do not know upon what authority Admiral Henderson ba&es his assertion. It is true enough that the Admiralty has varied its policy in regard to the Pacific, but we are not aware that any strong sentiment has been expressed in New Zealand in favour of the Australian scheme of naval'defence. On tlu«'contrary, we Relieve that public op:nion is opposed to the expenditure of .large sums of money in creating colonial fleets which, in the course of a Tew years, will become obsolete.
