MR J. G. WILSON.
The announcement made by the Prime Minister at Hastings on Tuesday that Mr J. G. Wilson, of Bulls, had, been- asked to accept the presidency of tho Board of Agriculture, will be received with satisfaction by the fanning community, though it does not come a« a surprise. Mr Wilson, in liifi capacity of President of the Farmers' Union, has rendered yeoman service to the Dominion. He Is a well-read, practical fanner, full of the progressive spirit, and enthusiastic to a degree. He is, moreover, a born leader ol men, has had Parliamentary experience, and pr:sses.':es a judicial mind. His acceptance of-tho position of President of tho Hoard of Agriculture, the institution of which lie has advocated for a number of years, would afford further scope for the exercise of his rural wisdom, and would, we believe, be attended with advantage; to - the Dominion. Whether it would be possible foiV him to retain the dual positions of President of the l ( armors' Union and President of the Board of Agriculture, wo are not quite sure. We are inclined to think that his new appointment would involve his retirement from the old, which would he a severe blow to an organisation which he has done more to keep together than any other man in New Zealand. ,
