THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. Last night the proprietors of the popular Electric Theatre screened the mid-week change of programme to a large and enthusiastic _audience. "Vanquished," 0110 *' u> ' cx " elusive features billed, Avas a huge success. It is a Nordisk production, in which a very line plot is well portrayed. "Captain Midnight," an Australian production by Spencer, wa s a verv fine picture, giving a realistic idea of the early bushranger of Australia. "Red Saunder's Sacrifice ' was a brilliant Lubin presentation, showing the true heart of an outlaAv and his subsequent return to civilised life. "An Equine Hero," by Selig, Avas also a Western story. A Message from Niagara" told a very pretty love story, for Avhich the Thanhauser Co mpa nv Avere responsible. "Billy McGrath's Love Letters" was a -unique comedy in Avhich the playfulness of a little' girl caused groat commotion. An unusually lively comedy Ava,s shown in "Alkali Ike's Pants." Other fine subjects included "The Sporting Editor" (Lubin), "Raffles' Escane from Prison" (Pasqualin), and "On the Dee, in Wales." This programme Avill be repeated to-night and on Friday night. For Saturday's change three long exclusive dramas will be -shown. ' A special matinee will begin at >2.30 o'clock on Saturday afternoon.

INTERNATIONAL PICTURES "MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT." The Toaa'h Hall was Avell filled last evening Avhen the usual m:d-Aveekly change of programme Avas -screened. "Martin Chuzzlewit" is a splendid subject for a photo-play, Avith intense action and romance. "An Equine Hero" is a Selig story of aw intelligent horse. "Detective Ferris,", a thrilling detective B. and A. adventure showing hoAV a gang of desperate anarchists are ensnared. There -s also a "William's Weekly" and an excellent reproduction of tho opening of the New South Wales Yae.hting Club. The comics are all well selected, and include, "A Sailor's Heart," a line A.B. farce comedy, "What's the Joke?" a regular side-splitter, "Cook's Bid for Fame," and many others Avhich make up a splendid programme. This series Avill be screened to-night and to-morrow for tho last time. A big special matineo Avill take place on Saturday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, Avhen the children are. promised a great treat.
