POST OFFICES.

The. people of i'almcnston North are concerned about tho status of their Post Office,. Thoy consider that, with, their large and increasing population, they aro entitled to tho dignity of a Chief Post Office, similar to that possessed by Tim am, Wangairui a.nd other les,s important centres. We confess to a degree of sympathy with Palmerston North, for it is the centre of a very wide and influential district, and should not have to play second fiddle to smaller townships But then, what about Hasfcorton r Here wo have a Post Office of the fourth grade, ranking with Dannevirke, Feilding, Stratford, ITawora and several other less-important centres. With a population within a, radius of a mile of tho Post Office of about 7000, we are surely entitled to go up a grado. At any rate, tho Chamber of Commerce should require to know tho reason why.
