CARTERTON NEWS.

(From Our Resident Reporter.) Monday. The evening service in St. Mark's Church, on Sunday, was conducted by the Rev. H. Watson, of St. Matthew's, Masterton, the Rev. R. Young preaching in the former's pulpit. The successful applicants for sections in the Carrington Estate hail from all parts of the Dominion. Yesterday harvest thanksgiving services were held in the Methodist Church, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. In the morning the service was conducted by theRev. J. J. Pendray, of Eketahuna, and formerly of this district, and the evening service was conducted by the Rev. W. J. Elliott. The Gun Club fired three sweepstakes on Saturday afternoon, the first being won by H. Jensen, with J. G. Oates second. H. Jensen also won the second competition with. J. G. Oates second, and the tiiird was divided between S. Jensen and J. G. Oates.
