SMUGGLING CHINESE INTO AUSTRALIA.
RECENT ARkIVALS REFUSED ADMISSION. Received March 3, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE, March 3. Thirteen out of the fifteen Chinese mentioned yesterday were refused permission to land. A cablegram yesterday stated that Mr Batchelor Federal Minister for External Affairs, who was an interested watcher during the examination of the papers presented by the Chinese referred to, stated that the papers purported to have been issued to men of ages ranging from 45 to 70 years, whereas the ages of the holders ranged from 21 to 45.
