CARTERTON.

From Our Own Correspondent. Wednesday. At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Carterton Library, held last evening, a vote of thanks was accorded to Mr F. Feist for a pircd of fcooks which he had purchased while on a visit to London, and which had presented by hi™ to the Library. It was reseveral periodicals had been placed on the reading room table by local contributors during the month. The Wairarapa South County Council's staff is busily engaged constructing protective works at the White Bridge at Belvedere. The work in connection with the new street which Mr A. King is taking through his property to connect with Victoria Street is nea'ring completion, and the street should be open for traffic in a week or two. The formation work was done by the County Council's road grader. The first parade of the recentlyformed Carterton Rifle Volunteers was held, last evening, Captain Skey being in charge. No deaths were recorded in Carterton during the month of November. There was one marriage, and four births.
