MASTERTON WOOL, SKIN AND HIDE SALES.

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., re•pout.ds follows:—We held our monthly sale of wool, skins, hides and tal,low yesterday, when we offered 44 bales of wool, 100 bags of wool, 2,800 sheepskins, 600 hides and calfskins, •and a quantity of tallow, horsehair .and rabbitskins. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition was keen at full market rates. We quote the following prices:— \\ 00l Crossbred 7d to Bd, dead 7Jd to 7fd, bellies and ujeces sfd to 6Jd, locks .21d to 3id,-*crutchings, 3|d to 4|d. Sheepskh s —Fine crossbred 7£d, medium crossbred 6i.d to 7d, seedy icrossbred s|d, half wools sfd, dead s£d.to 6d, lambs 4£d, green crossbred to 6s each, green pelts to Is 6d. Hides—Market was weak in sympathy with Australia, and this, taken into consideration with toe fact that the bulk of the hides offering were generally of a very inferior quality, made prices lov\. Until hides are marketed in good condition, vendors must be prepared to accept a small figure for hides, and we would again impress on them the necessity _ of ■care,being taken in this Prices realised were:—Ox. sound 3Jd per,lb.; ox, cut and slippy 2£d to Shd; •cow, sound 3§d, cow, cut and slippy 25d..t0.23d, calf, sound to.6d; calf, cut and slippy 3gd tn 4Jd. A perusal of the above prices will show that a serious loss is entailed en vendors through carelessness in regard to saving hides and calfskins. Tallow—ln casks .22s 9d per cwt.; in barrels and tins 19s 9d to 20s 9d, raugh fat in bags, ,4s 6d. Horsehair—ls 3Jd per lb. Our next sale will be held on January 15th, 1908.
