All the million loan for public works had been se:uied on satisfactory terms, and £BOO,OOO for the purchase of giltedged securities in London had been obtained without going on the London money market. The financial position of the dominion had never been stronger than at present. The new tariff was having a very beneficial effect on trade. No established industries had been affected, while already' three new industrial concerns were about to commence as a result of its operations.
