On enquiry at the Ma9terton hos--1 pital, yesterday, it was ascertained that Mr E. Egan, who was admitted to the hospital on Sunday, in a serious condition, is now progressing satisfactorily towards recovery. Mr J. H. Powell, of Makuri, has returned home after spending a holiday in Australia extending over three months. The Rev. J. K. Elliott, of Carteron, is at present spending a short holiday in Christchurch. The Hon. W. Hall-Jones, Mrs HallJones, and Miss Hall-Jones, will leave London for Wellington by the Corinthic on December 13th. The steamer is due on January 28th. A cable message received by the .Premier states that Mr Hall-Jones is in good health. Councillor VV. A. Burling has been re-elected chairman of the Akitio County Council for the ensuing year, j
