AGRICULTURAL SHOWS.

MANAWATU. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Nov. 1. The third day of the show was a very great success in every way. Although in the afternoon the weather became threatening, the rain fortunately held off until nearly 6 o'clock, when a shower fell. The show was has been most fortunate in the matter of weather. A tremendous crowd was present, estimated at about 25,000 persons. This makes the aggregate attendance j for the three days nearly 50,000 and the takings amounted to about £1,300, being about £IOO better than the previous year. The judging was all finished yesterday, merely some of the ring competitions being left for decision today. The results were as follow.: Leaping competition for ponies: J. Scott's Canteen 1, E. N. Lurnsden's Tommy 2, D. McKeeman's Dandy Dick 3. Lady driver: Mrs St. Clair Jounnax 1, Mrs F. S. Mcßae 2, Miss Scott 3. Lady rider: Miss E. Abbot 1, Miss Jessie Campbell i. Miss Lloyd 3. Hunters' competition: W. Boulton's Alpine 1, W. D. Watson's Yeast 2, J. D. Mitchell's Bushy Park 3. Section jumping and leaping competition : A splendid fight was made for getting the honours in this division. The competition was very keen. Eventually the Feilding Mounted Rifles first team, under Sergeant Younger, succeeded in carrying off the palm, the time being 3min 11 3-ssec—a remarkably fine performance. Feilding Mounted Rifles second team, under Sergeant-Major Ranby was second; time, 3min 4 3-ssec, also an exceedingly fine performance. Manawatu Mounted Rifles first team, under Sergeunt-Major Smith, was third, the time being 4min 3 2-ssec.

ASHBURTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. ASHBURTON, November 1. People's Day at the Ashburton Show passed off successfully, to-day, in fair weather, though the attendance was not up to expectations. Judging was completed, and numerous competitions decided.
