Reuter's Tashkan correspondent states that an earthquake on October 21st caused a grea 1 ; mountain slide, Jurying Bokhara, a town 100 miles south-east of Samarkand. The bulk of the inhabitants, numbering 1,500, perished. Some, including the Governor, escaped.' " •
