On resuming, the South made things busy in their opponent's circle, until McKenzie came to the rescue with a long hit to the wing. Jacobs earned repeated applause for line defensive play. His left-handed play completely puzzled his opponents. From a free hit Tdotuson made a serviceable run to the South's twenty-five, where Ford found the line. Prom the tLrow-in Doig and Blewett broke away. The former centred accurately, but Gave hit out. Another attack by MoOully and Ellis was stopped in time by Swinburne, and the North invaded again, but without result. Halftime was called with play in neutial territory. On changing ends the South set up a vigorous attack for a quarterof an-hour, aud only good play by Ryburn kept the net clear. Doig, Blewett, McOiilly, Ellis and Hnwison were all noticeable for clever work, and Swinburne, Gave, Bell and Fraser were very busy. obstructing, and play was returned |co the centre. Another flue run by Ooe and Sorensen was stopped by Ford hitting out at the twenty-five. Prom the roll in an interchange of long hits between Eraser and Ford resulted in South making another attempt. Cave saved the situation, and clay was centred for some time.
