THE SIR EEC BETTING BILL. Received August 2, 8.41 a.m. LONDON. August 1. In the House of Commons the Street Betting Bill was read a second time without a division. Mr Herbert Gladstone, Secretary of State for Home Affairs, denied that the Bill was a £.op to the Nonconformist conscience, both Houses of Convocation having urged its adoption. THE EDUCATION BILL. Received August 2, 10.53 p.m. LONDON August 2. Lord fCrewe was entrusted with the Education Bill in the House of Lords. A notable debate is proceeding. The Archbishop of Canterbury made a lofty and temperate speech in defenue of the just rights of the cburohes. glThe second reading is assure! in view of widel amendments being made when the Bill reaones the Committee stage.
