WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

UPPER HUTT BRANCH. On June 30th last, the Upper Hutt Branch of the Women's Institute held a successful and well attended social evening in St. Hilda's Hall. Everybody was in a happy mood, and games, competitions and dances were a feature of the evening. Miss I. McGhie, Mr. G. Morley and Miss Whittingham sang songs and Miss Koneen gave an exhibition of tap dancing. The Dramatic Circle of the Institute enacted a play, which was a great success, and the ladies participating are to be congratulated on their excellent performances. During the evening a dainty supper was served by the ladies of the Institute and the evening closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and God Save the King. Mrs. Spencer (president) expressed her desire to thank all those who had contributed to the enjoyment and success of the evening.
