ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.
The opening - Soccer game of the season was played at Maidstone Park on Saturday, 18th April, tinder the auspices of the Hutt Valley League between the A and B grades of the Uppei- Hutt United F.C., Mr. Creagh, late of Petone, being the official referee. The game was fast and clever from the kick-off and both sets of players showed a keen aptitude for the finer points of the game and the score of 8-2 in favour of the senior boys does not reflect in any way on the merits of the boys of the lower grade as they played quite an outstanding game against a bigger and heavier team. The members of the club are pleased to see such a show of promising talent and they are sure that before the season ends both teams will make their presence felt no matter who they meet in League games. Goals were scored by the following players:—A grade: D. Bucknell (3), W. Jef feries (2), W- Allbrett (2), R. Wilkinson (1). B grade: T. C. Hoey (I),R. Jloare (1).
