On ■Saturday evening the party assembled at the Tire Brigade Station where Superintendent Napier, uiter having explained the uses oi the various parts oi the plant, gave an exhibition of the promptness with which a lire alarm is answered. The visitors were greatly astonished at the rapidity with which the motor lire engines were run out and the cleverness of the two horses who at .the signal galloped to their places .at the jpole and were harnessed ill an incredibly short time. Sunday was spent quietly. On Aionday the party were the guests of the Albany Street School in an excursion by tile ferry steamer Wairoka. I'ort Chalmers was .visited and the party landed for lunch at Tortobello. The day was line though rather breezy but on arrival back at the wharf one and all expressed tlieir sense of the pleasure ihey had received on this trip. The. party entrained for Lawrence at -L.:!0 and arrived home safely at 5.50, having enjoyed their outing as children only can. The special thanks of the party are due to Messrs licnmie (headmaster) McLaren (first assistant),, and J. 11. Wilkinson (Chairman of Committee) who each and all did their utmost to make the visitors happy, and j the Lawrence pupils will for many years to come remember the splendid trip from which they have just returned.
