SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Lawrence District High School Committee was hold on Tuesday' evening, HOlh alt. Present—Messrs Mcintosh (Chairman), Edic, Watson. Browne, and Nome.

Rector's Report. Th„ Rector (Mr W. W. Tuni.-r) reported that the average attendance for tho past month had been 190, the roll number 'being 20:2 : that Inspector Gill's report on Uiie Secondavv Department was to hand, and he enclosed it for the Committee's perusal. He recommended the removal of the trees on the eastern boundary of the school ground from the gate northwards. Tho repf-rt was received, the committer ei'pi'ossing gratification at tho slightly increased roll numlier and the good average attendance. The removal of the trees suggested was left in the hands of tile ('hairat.an to arrange. Correspondence. From the Board (1) advising tho payment of quarterly allowance ( £l4 9s lOd) to Committee's credit ; (2) that Mr -lames Smith, member of tho 'Board, would, inspect and report on Mr Loudon's application to lease school glebe; (3) that the architect had given instructions for the repair of the fence on Western boundary of school ground.—Correspondence received. Visiting Committee's Report. Mi Watson, on -behalf of the Visiting Committee, reported that everything in and around the school was in a satisfactory condition.
