OUR RAILWAY TIME TABLE

TO BE ALTERED SHORTLY. It will be remembered that recent Iv the Lawrence Borough Council moved in the matter of an alteration in the tim.e-tajble of the Lawrence-Milton section of the railway. The motion passed by the Council asked the favourable consideration by the Department of an alteration which would permit the morning train from Lawrence on three days of the week connecting with the north express instead of the early mixed train, and the evening train from Milton connecting wi(ih the south express. This concession it was pointed out would permit of the morning train leaving Lawrence at 7.30 and the evening train arriving in Lawrence about 8 p.m.

■Advantage was taken of Messrs Filler and Whitcorobe's presence. in Lawrence a few days ago to bring the matter before them by means of a deputation of citizens when the advantages and convenience of the alteration asked for was fullv discuss-, ed. The Railway Department has sinco considered the matter and their replv is to hand. lUnder date 23rd July, Mr S. F. TOiitciinbe, Traffio Superintendent, writes : " The Town Clerk, Lawrence. " Sir,—With further reference to your letter of 22nd ultimo, a nd the interview I had recently at Lawrence with his Worship the Mlayor and: otherd, I now have the pleasure to infonn you that commencing September 4th the morning train will leave Lawrence at 17.15 a.m., M'ilton arrive 'J.O a-m., and connect with the up express : tho evening train will leave Milton at 16.16 p.m., after arrival of down exjpress, Lawrence arrive 8.5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays."
