RAES JUNCTION SPORTS.

The pports held at R ies Junction on New Year's Day passed off very suooesbfally. The weather was perfect, but the attendance wm hardly up to expectations, owing principally to the. backward state of the shearing. Several visitors were present from the surrounding districts. There were good fi Ids and the events were keenly contested. Messrs M'Kay (Lawrence) and M'Lean (Dunrobin) gave every satisfaction as handioappers, while Mr Bates filled lha position of secretary ia hia usual capable manner. Messrs Whelan and Stevenson were the judges. The following are the results of the different events ; Maiden Race- J. G. Merrilies I, J. Steel % Raes Junction Handicap— G. Taylor 1, J. Stetl 2, E. J. Curtin 3. Taylor ran a dead *' beat with E. Curtin in the 100 yds and won *' the 200yd8. Boys' Race— R. Dempsey 1, W. Wilkioioo and W. Welsh 2. Sunning High Jump — E. J. Curtin 1, W« Vernon 2. Obstacle Race — W: M'Eay 1, B. G. Morrilies 2. This was. a good event and oauoed much amusement. . - Tag-of-War, Raes Junction v. Millers Flat — Haes Junction. This iff the third year in, 3uooeseion Raes Junction won this event. Married Ladies' Race— Mrs Cullen 1. Mra Hands 2, Mrs Edie 3. Girls' Race— J. Edwards 1, L. Ledgerwood 2.
