GERMAN ANTARTIC EXPEDITION.

Sydney, January 8.

The steamer Tauglian has returned from Kerguelen Land, where she landed dogs, 360 tons of coal, and 2,000 tons of stores for the German Antartic expedition, Kerguelen is deacribed as bleak and mountainous, margined by numerous email islands. The landing of stores was difficult, owing to the ragged coasts and perpetually stormy seas. The weather was boisterous and foggy, but no ice wa* viewed. Several good lakes were Been inland. Fish were scarce. Rabbits, the descendants of a few landed by the 1874 expedition, swarm. The German fla^ waa hoisted on an old hat, the remnant of a whaler's quarters. Herr Euzansperger and Dr Luykeo, members of the Gauas expedition, and a servant remained awaiting the Gausß, which had not, as expected, arrived. Four Chinese members of the crew died of beriberi fever. - Two were buried at Kerguelen.
