BACHELORS' BALL AT WAITAHUNA WEST.
The bachelors cf Waitahuna West have ample reason to feel proud of the successful gathering whioh was present at their ball on Friday, the 11th instant. The weather was simply beautiful for such an occasion, and i there must have been an attendance of some- | thing like 40 couples. The hall was very tastefully decorated with evergreens, etc. D&Dc\Dg commenced shortly after 8 p.m., and was kept up with great vigor till the small hours of the morning. Excellent music was snpplied by Mr J. Smith (violin), assisted by Messrs J. and P. Boughan, while the duties of M.C. were carried out by Messrs J. Bobs and W. Jones. The dresses worn by the ladies were much admired, being generally of a very handsome character. At intervals between the dances songs were sung by Misses Walker and French, and Messrs Rosa, French, and Murphy, while Mr P. Wilson danced the Irish jig and sailor's hornpipe in a very clever manner. Altogetber the gathering may fairly be said to have been the most suooessf ul yet held in the distriot.
