An interesting official paper has recently been, issued in Washington, containing a. report on the equipments find interior economy of the Allied troops in China. It is no surprise to learn that tbe American soldier was * the best fighting man of all the Allies. 1 Tbe supply of rations appears to bave been fairly good and liberal to all tbe troops, but the Russians had little besides black bread and soup, and a meat preparation at intervals. They had, however, the finest cooking arrangements of tbe whole force. On a springlees carriage was mounted an iron furnace, fitted under the boiler. Into the latter they put all tbe materials they possessed for a stew or soup, lit tbe fire, and away went the perambulating soup-tureen with its company.
