STraxsxßß— Wbdsesdat STat Cattle.— l9s head were * arded today at Buraside for the wpek's requirements, not more than half of which could be called good killing beef ; the rest comprised aged cows and three parts fat steers. Best bullocks brought from £7 10s to £9 ; medium to good, £6 2s 6d to £7 2s 6d ; light weights, £5 5s to £6 ; best cows, £6 2s 6d to £7 2s 0d ; medium, £5 to £5 17s 6d ; light weights, £3 7s 6d to £4 15s.— Wright, Stpphenoon, and Co, sold : For Mr Jame*. Gow (Invermay), 6 prime bullocks from £7 10a to £8 2s 6d ; for Mr W. Kirkland (Elmgrove), 8 prime bullocks from £8 to £8 7s 6d, and twelve cows at £5 15s to £6 15j ; and for Messrs Samson Bros, A. Parneski, J. Miller, and others, 45 cows at quotations. Fat Sheep.— Tbe entry today comprised, 370 merino wethers and 1746 crosstrads, the greater portion being ewes, medium to good. A few pens vi wethers were good "o prime, the rest only medium. Competition all through tbe sales lacked spirit, resulting in prices not reaching last weik's by 61 to 9d per head. Best crossbred wethers brought 13s to 153— one pen 15 1 6d ; ordinary, lla to 12s 9d ; best do eiros, 12j 91 to 14s 31; light weights and ordinary quality, 10a to Us 9J ; merino wethers, 8* to 12s.— D»nald Ueid and Co. yarded and sold for Mr J. F. Herbert (Ardmore), 63 crossbred ewes at 12s 31 to 12a ; for » client, 33 S mthdown ewes at 14a 61 to 12s 9d ; for Mr John Gow (Invermav), 25 crossbred we hers and evren at 14i, 14 do at 13i ; for Mr J. Mawsjn (Purakanui). 19 crossbred wethers and ewes at 12a 6d ; for Mi William Usborre (luaoeka (West), 26 crossbred wethfr*' at 13s 9d, 23 crossbred ewes at 14s, 14 do at 13<. — The Farmers' Agency Co. sold for Mr W. Smith (Tattenham) 68 crossbred* at 133 ; for Messrs J. Smith and Sons (Greenfield), 280 crossbred ewes at 12s 3d.

Limbs.— The entry to-day was rather a meagre one, only 93 being penned, all of wlrch fetched good prices, ranging from 9s to 13a Gd.

Pigs.— l2o wore penned, comprising all sorts. The whole met with good attention, suckers fetching 11s 6d to 13s ; slipn, 14s to 16s ; storas, 18a to 21s ; porkers, 24s to 31s ; baconers, 36s to 48s. S^.ore Cattle.— The demand continues steady, and, immediately after harvest, will, no doubt, increase. Store Sheep.— Large sales by auction have been held daring the week. Competition was spirited, and very fu'l prices were obtained for all offered.

Wool. — Locally business id quiet since close of last sales.

Sheepskins continue to meet with ready sale, but, as is always the case at this season of th.9 year, the catalogues now presented represent but few skins. A good demand exist?, more particularly for well-3<*ved, large green croesbreds. ttabbit skins,— A very sati&factory demand continues to exist for these, notwithstanding that the bulk cf consignments now coming *o haDd comprise r early all skins of low quality ; but these are keenly competed for. Tallow. — Well-rendered mutton is in good demand, worth 233 to 24? 6d, but none offering ; medium to good, 19s to 225 ; inferior to medium, 14* 6i to 18i 6d.
