BvsmtDa— Weditmdat Fat Cattle. — 188 head in ; in quality from fair to extra prime. Competition brisk, with last week's prices fully maintained. Bollocks sold at L 5 to Llo los (for one pen extra) ; cows sold at L 3 to L 7 2s 6d.— The Farmers' Agency Co., sold 34 as follow ; From Station Peak, 18 heifers at L 5 to L 7 2s 6d ; for Mr A. Douglas, 10 bullock* at L 6 to L6 lss, 5 heifers at L 6; for Mr John Smith (Colac), 1 stag at L2 l2s 6d ; for Mr J. Early, 2 cows at L 6 ss. Fat Sheep.— 2ooo penned, of which 150 were average merino wethers, the rest crossbred* of medium to extra heavy weights. The whole found a speedy clearance at values about equal to last week's. Crossbred wethers sold at 12s to 18?; do ewes at 11s to 18s 6d; merino wethers at 8b 6d to 12s.— The Farmers' Agency Co. penned 976, and sold for Mr John F. Herbert (Ardmore), 60 crossbred ewes at 14s 6d ; for Mr Peter Law (Sowburn), 42 halfbred wethers at 15s 9d, 28 merino do at 10s 3d ; for W. Tarnbull, 30 crossbred do at 16s ; for Mr Harry Steel (Clinton), 30 crossbred ewes at 11s 9d ; for Mr John Tnrnbull (Waikato), 90 crossbred wethers at 16s 3d, 30 merino do at 8s 3d; for Mr William Robertson (Paimerstonjt, 172 half bred do at 133 6i to 15s; for Mr A. Douglas (Hopehili), 155 crossbred ewes at 12a 9d to 13s 9d, 41 merino wethers at 9s ; for Mr W. A. Todd, 266 crossbred ewes at 12s ; for Mathecoa Brothers, 75 wethers at 12s Bd— Donald Reid and Co. yarded 377, and sold for Mr Edward Hughes (Taapeka West), 144 crossbred wethers at 15s to 18s (top price to-day). Lambs.— Donald Reid and Co. penned an 1 sold for Mr John Bryce (Greytown), 33 at 10s 3d. Pigs.— Donald Reid and Co. penned and told for various clients, 16 at quotations. Store Cattle. — There is nothing of any importance to chronicle with regard to the position of the market, which is not by any means exceedingly active at the moment. Store Sheep. — A moderate business continues to bo done in these, and all lots offering can be placed at late rates. Wool. — A fairly good demand continues to prevail in the local market, and any small lots brought forward at the weekly austions are readily taken np at full rates. Sheepskin*. — Very -good competition prevailed at our auction sale on Tuesday. Full prices were secured for all the lots brought forward, late rates being fully maintained, particularly for large-pelted, fine-wooled green crossbreds. Rabbitskins. —These are coming to hand more freely. Quotations for best winter ■kins of this season on the market, lOd to It ; autnvn, 7d to 9d ; summer, 5d to 7d ; ■ackers and half -grown, 2d to 4£d per Ib. Hides are without change. Tallow continues in good demand at late current rates.
