Eating Horse Meat.
Pandora, the famous steeplechaser, waa shot a few days ago on account of incurable lameness, and some of the choicest steaks oat from the carcase were served up at the Philadelphia Club as "filet a la Pandora" to several guests, Dr. Bush S. Huidekoper, her owner, and the oooks been sworn to secrecy. The guests pronounced the meat very toothsome, but they were much surprised on learning that they had been eating horse meat. The joke, however, was enjoyed. The editor of a paper that has adopted phonetic spelling in a measure, received a postal oard the other day from a subscriber in the country, which contained the following: " I hay tuk your paper goin' on levn years, but if you can't spell enny better than you've been doin' lately you may jea stoppit." The following sign is posted up in front of a certain grocery store in — — county ; " Pedatters 80 sents a sak." Since time is not a person we can overtake when he is past, let 09 honor him with mirth and cheerfulness of heart while he in passing. Open to question— The mouth of an inquisitive person. When Httle children gambol they do not play for money. Would the pugilist be rated as » " mill" operative by the accident insurant man? It seems as it the bread and pastry oook might not inappropziatelybe termed a doughmeßtio. A Scbew Loose Somewhere.— Husband : 11 Why don't you wear your new dress ?" Wife : " It is unbecoming, or else it is out of style, or possibly it is a horrible misfit. I'm not sure which; but I must look tike ft frigbtor a simpleton in it." Husband : " Why so ?"
